Jarrett Relieved of His Duties by Leche Racing

Following Dale Jarrett's recent retirement from NASCAR, Leche Racing has asked Boris Said to fill in the enormous void left by the 1999 Winston Nextel Sprint Cup Champion. That shouldn't be too tall an order for Said as that void amounts to 403 fantasy points in 5 races for Jarrett, and an average finish of 30th. Boris Said, however, has zero starts so far this year.

Ralle Cup 2005 Champion Announced

Well, it was a rough year for Ralle Cup as updates came few and far between. There's no word yet on how ready we'll be for the start of 2006, but we're hoping for bigger and better things than 2005, though it's not saying a lot.

I do want to take this opportunity to recognize and congratulate the Thunder Katz for their 2005 Ralle Cup Team Championship and Team Gilli: Island Motorsports for winning the Driver Championship with Tony Stewart. Congratulations and thanks to all the teams for participating, we hope to see you in this year's game!

Back In Time for the End

Tonight I finally decided to start climbing the huge mountain of race results updates and I made it to the top of the mountain about an hour after I started. I wish I had more time to work on some of the other areas of the site like the statistics, control panel, etc. but, alas, that will have to wait for another time. Hopefully by 2006 the site will be fully functional and ready for a revival, just in time for Junior's bid for his first championship. Any suggestions as to what feature you'd most like to see next? I'm posing that question to everyone, but since JohnnyH is really the only one that pays any attention to it, I'll direct it more towards him.

Quick Update

The results page is up (click "Results" on the menu). Pretty basic right now, but it will continue to evolve. Things I'm planning are highlighting teams/starters, sortable columns, and a better navigation system. Let me know if there's anything else you want to show up on that page.

Updates Galore!

Ok, I've already mentioned in TrackSmack that the Driver standings are available with minimal details in the sidebar on the main page. Now add to that the availability of the Team Standings and you'll see things are moving along quite nicely. A new feature for this year (planned for last year but never happened) is the ability to see how well you're picking your starters. Right now the way you check is by holding the cursor over your team's actual point total and (if you're using a compatible browser which you should be) the maximum possible points you could have earned by picking the right starters appears. Let the kicking-self-in-the-rear begin. (Two observations: 1. You'll notice that, after 2 weeks, only Dan is alive in the "Pick your best starters all season" sweepstakes. And yes, Daytona was automatic in this regard, but it's still pretty cool. 2. Leche Racing would have made three teams with over 1,000 points after the first two weeks if he had been a little more savvy last week.)

Just to add a little commentary, I don't know if it's ever happened that we've had two teams break 1,000 points after the first two weeks. Congrats fellas. I honestly thought I had a pretty solid looking team, but I think I've lost 10 out of 14 engines the last two weeks. I'm sure it's not that high, but it may be 50%. Here's to hoping my team's luck turns around.

No race this week, everyone enjoy your weekend off as a team owner!

Important Announcement!

As I was rushing to finish up the admin functions for locking starters, I realized that this year I can do just as I had done in year's past to save myself some grief ... your starters for the Daytona 500 will be your best 5 drivers (well, really 4)! That way I can concentrate on getting myself to Daytona and none of us have to worry too much about The Big One!

Also, as you can tell I'm a little behind with everything so a points update will be delayed not only by my trip to Daytona, but also by the fact that the data gathering and computation scripts have not been written yet. So, Everyone (that means YOU johnnyh), please be patient with me. I will do everything I can to have the points up by Wednesday.

Start Me Up!

Ok guys, you can now set your starters. The policy for when starters will be locked for a particular race will be about the same this year. Probably about 2-3 hours before the race starts (generally when I get home from church). Remember, you'll always have the capability to change your starters but the starters for the current race will be locked in at a certain time.

Also, I'm in the process of getting this year's race schedule put up. I'm finally doing what I wanted to do last year which is including the race time/tv station (U.S. residents) for each race. Also listed in the schedules will be the non-points races, which I am considering awarding small bonuses to the winners (this would include bud shootout, gatorade duels, and the all-star race(s)). An abbreviated schedule is availabe on the sidebar and also contains a link to the complete (in progress) schedule.

Ralle Cup 2005 Updates

I will periodically update this entry and try to keep it at the top of the entries and sort of make it the main source for updates regarding this year's Ralle Cup Championship sponsored by thedustin.com!

What I'm Currently Working On / What's Next (Not comprehensive)
+ Draft pages, Draft admin
+ Admin pages (to make things easy for me - including: driver, races, league settings)
+ Roster management pages
+ Race data parser
Note: I know this is moving pretty slow, but because of the "site defaced" problem at rallepoint and my hard drive crash in august, I'm having to recode the entire site for the second year in a row. I was able to recover last year's code on my old hard drive, but that hard drive is actually not here with me and I thought I could make the system even better this year.

General
+ I've posted my mock draft write up from last year. I'll try to do another one this year. If anyone else wants to contribute one, just email it to me.

Draft 2005
+ Draft 2005 pages are complete, and there is a link to the Draft page in the main menu on the homepage. The Draft will open promptly at 10:00 am EST on Saturday February 5th, 2005.
